The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon will face the Pharoahs of Egypt tomorrow in Benguela in a rematch of the 2008 African Cup of Nations final in Ghana, won of course by Egypt 1-0 after a defensive error by Rigobert Song (sound familiar) allowed Mohamed Aboutrika a free shot on goal. This year the match takes place in the Quarterfinals. ... [read more]

Cameroon Survive and Scrape into Quarterfinals with 2-2 draw against Tunisia

January 21st, 2010 | By: shane | Comments Comments(3)

So Cameroon advanced into the quarterfinals of the African Cup of Nations today, but it was hardly a convincing result. A uninspiring Cameroon side against an equally uninspiring Tunisia side battled to 2-2 draw in Lubango. Cameroon finished the group with 4 points, equal to the number accumulated by Gabon and Zambia and a point more than the ... [read more]

Cameroon Fight Past Zambia 3-2 Thanks to some Much Needed Luck

| By: shane | Comments Comments(2)

Cameroon won a thrilling encounter in Lubango against Zambia today 3-2. It was a match that they did not deserve to win as they were outplayed by Zambia for large portions of the match including the entire first half and they only got back into the game due to a catastrophic error by Zambia. Cameroon vs. Zambia

| By: shane | Comments Comments(2)

I feel badly for Zambia, a side I root for and thought had a great chance at the World Cup after the draw in Egypt. But for the second Nations Cup in a row they are facing a pissed off and desperate Indomitable Lions team. Not a recipe for success for Zambia. Two years ago in Ghana ... [read more]

Robinho's Second Santos Debut, and Neymar's Paradinha Penalty

Robinho didn't disappoint on his second Santos debut, coming off the bench to score a Zola-esque near post flick of a winner vs São Paulo. Whatever you might think of the man who rides the Pelécopter, it's good to see such an entertaining footballer looking happy again. But don't worry, there's ...

Soccer and the Super Bowl, or: Football vs Football, or: Why Can't We All Just Get Along?

As I'm sure most of our American readers will know, today is Super Bowl XLIV (or Super Bowl 44, if you don't speak Roman numeral). Super Bowl Sunday is an easy excuse for us soccer fans to indulge ourselves by bashing the "other" football, reminding fans of said sport that ...
